Ehrwald and Biberwier are superb resorts located in the Zugspitz Arena ski area which offer guaranteed snow and over 200km of pistes. With a diverse range of challenges – a total of 74 blue runs, 55 red runs and 11 black runs, across the 5 ski resorts, you can be sure that there is something to suit all abilities. The beautiful Austrian resort of Ehrwald is in a fantastic location just over 1hr NW of Innsbruck, close to the famous Zugspitze Glacier, the highest mountain of Germany, bordering Bavaria. The Hotel Sonnenburg sits on the Sonnenhang slope in Ehrwald and is just a 5-10 minutes walk from the centre. The area is perfectly suited for all grades of skier.
Skiing in Ehrwald.
The Sonnenburg sits on the slopes of the Wettersteinbahnen ski area, close to the centre of Ehrwald. This resort received the award of the worlds best Ski Resort for Beginners 2022. With the state-of-the-art six seater chair lift departing from just outside the hotel it is perfect for every beginner and intermediate. The local lift pass will allow you to ski the Wetterstein area and with the Zugspitz Arena lift pass extension you can ski six other resorts in the Tiroler Zugspitz Arena, including the Zugspitz Glacier. This gives you access to over 200km of piste. The other resorts can be reached with the free Ski Bus that runs between the areas of Lermoos, Biberweir, Ehrwalder and Berwang and are all within a 10-15 minute journey of your hotel. All in all a fantastic ski area for all grades of skiers.
Après Ski
Many après-ski possibilities are available for our groups in Ehrwald itself. There is a superb sports complex in Ehrwald which boasts an outdoor iceskating rink and bouldering wall. A visit to the ski show in Lermoos, where professionals demonstrate spectacular jumps and terrific tricks is also a fantastic après ski option!

Sonnenburg
The Sonnenburg is a recently refurbished and extended hotel in a wonderfully picturesque setting, directly on the slopes of the Sonnenlifte ski area and only 5-10 mins walk to the centre of Ehrwald. Due to the completion of 4 new rooms, the Sonnenburg can now accommodate up to a maximum of 88 people, mainly in 4 & 6 bedded rooms all with private facilities. The Hotel Sonnenburg is designed for the needs of Irish & UK students. A bar, TV room with live Premiership, Championship & Europa League, SPL, rugby & movies and a pool table, new dining room and large recreation room, ensure excellent inhouse après-ski possibilities.
